MPS monitoring Kampung Sungai Pusu landslide to prevent situation from worsening

GOMBAK, Dec 12 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) will monitor the landslide incident which occurred in the yard of a Kampung Sungai Pusu resident sometime around midnight yesterday.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari the council has placed a canvas on the bank of the landslide as an initial measure, so as to prevent it from worsening.

“The landslide involves private property, which the owners must repair themselves. MPS will monitor the situation to prevent further collapse,” he said after visiting the location earlier today.

At about 12.30am, over two metres of 68-year-old resident Abdul Malik Mohd Hashim’s yard collapsed, with no injuries reported.

Amirudin also spoke of the landslide at Taman Halaman in Ampang last week, stating the location has been identified as an area at risk of collapsing at any time.

“The area has been under frequent scrutiny due to the risks, and the incident affected three families who have since been advised to evacuate their homes so a thorough study can be carried out,” he said.

On Friday (December 9), an elderly woman was among six people who survived the nine-metre-high landslide at Taman Halaman.
