SHAH ALAM, Dec 20 — The Seri Kembangan state constituency has allocated some RM6,900 to help flash flood victims at Pangsapuri Taman Harmoni Bukit Belimbing in Balakong.

Its state assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah said a total of 23 families who were affected by the flood last month have received a donation of RM300.

“Flash floods frequently occur there and recently happened again in the middle of November. So on Saturday (December 18), we went down on ground to provide donations.

“Hopefully, this aid will help to alleviate the recipients’ burden, easing it to an extent,” he told SelangorKini yesterday.

Yong added the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) and himself are working together to upgrade the drainage system in the area, so as to prevent flash floods from recurring.

“I hope the residents can be patient as we are in the process of repairing the drainage system in the area involved so that hopefully this disaster will not happen again in the future,” he said.

The area around Taman Harmoni Bukit Belimbing is often the site of flash floods almost every year, in the event of heavy rains.
