Parts of Selangor to see inclement weather until late afternoon — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has predicted heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms for five districts in Selangor until later this afternoon.

In a statement issued at 1pm, the agency said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.

“Other states and territories which will be affected include Kuala Lumpur, Alor Gajah in Melaka, and Perak (Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak and Muallim).

“Likewise Pahang (Bentong, Maran, Bera and Rompin), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin) and Johor (Segamat, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai and Kota Tinggi) will also see strong weather,” it said.

The weather is expected to persist until 4pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
