RS-1 strengthens economy, assures people’s wellbeing — MB

KLANG, Dec 11 — The implementation of the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) is a bold step towards propelling the state’s economy, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the five-year development plan focuses on strengthening the economy, driving environmental sustainability as well as good and effective governance.

“Selangor’s economic development continues to improve whereby the state has contributed 24.8 per cent of the country’s gross domestic products last year and remains the biggest contributor to the nation.

“This means nearly a quarter of the country’s economic wealth is derived from economic activities in Selangor. However, the state administration was not complacent and took a bold decision to present the RS-1.

“The state government strives to narrow the development gap between the urban and suburban areas through the Integrated Development Region In South Selangor (Idriss), the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) and the Economic Development Zone of the Selangor Maritime Gateway (ZPE SMG),” he said when delivering a loyalty speech to His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj in conjunction with the sultan’s 77th birthday at Istana Alam Shah, here today.

RS-1 focuses on economic growth, empowerment of the people through welfare programmes, sustainable development as well as good and transparent governance.

It takes into account the policy implementation aspects, projects and comprehensive initiatives between the state government and the Federal government without setting aside the five-year planning under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), which is still ongoing and bringing impact on the state.

Meanwhile, Amirudin added that the state administration is also committed to strengthening unity by ensuring racial harmony continues to be protected.

“The younger generations are not only the reflection of our country’s future but they are also able to determine our direction. Therefore, their involvement in realising the government’s agenda will continue to be streamlined.

“Selangor also stands by wise and sustainable development principles to ensure the environment will be protected,” he added.
