Selangor book fair sees nearly 150,000 visitors over 5-day period

SHAH ALAM, Dec 5 — The 2022 Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) held at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre has received close to 150,000 visitors to date since its opening on December 1.

Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said the 11-day event recorded the largest number of attendees on Saturday, which totalled more than 30,000 people.

“The number of exhibition booths also increased from 295 to 303,” she said when met at SIBF today.

When questioned on which book had the highest sales, Mastura replied that PTS Media Group’s books were among the most popular and sold well.

Meanwhile, she also welcomed the support of leaders, especially state leaders, to come and visit the book fair.

The inaugural SIBF is organised by the Selangor government with PPAS as a continuation of the Selangor Book Fair held since 2006.

In addition to exhibitions and book sales, various interesting activities involving students and children were also held together with sales of a variety of food and goods.

Previously, PPAS targeted an approximate attendance of 300,000 visitors to SIBF, whic ends on December 11.
