Selangor International Book Fair an opportunity for local writers to market their work abroad

SHAH ALAM, Dec 2: The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) acts as middleman to help local book publishers and writers to market their works abroad.

Its director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said, through the Selangor International Fellows Programme, publishers and writers have the opportunity to meet and introduce their work to book industry representatives from six countries.

“The representatives involved in the programme are the United Kingdom, North Macedonia, South Korea, Egypt and Indonesia.

“If selected, they will have the opportunity for their works to be translated by respective national publishers to be sold there,” she said when met at the 2022 Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) at Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre, here yesterday.

Mastura added that the Fellows programme will last for four days with participation of about 70 participants from various publishing companies and local writers.

The progamme is one of the newly introduced events at the SIBF 2022 aimed at helping the local book industry to expand its wings abroad.

The SIBF 2022 is held at the MBSA Convention Centre in Section 13, here, from December 1 to 11.
