SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — The state government aims to have a total of 1,600 Smart Selangor WiFi (WiFiSS) services activated by the end of this year, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said, of this figure, 873 WiFiSS have been installed and used, as of Wednesday (November 30).

“An additional 727 WiFiSS are being installed and activated in stages. We are aiming to have 1,600 Internet networks activated by the end of this year,” Amirudin said during the wind-up of the 2023 Selangor Budget, at the State Legislative Assembly sitting yesterday.

He added the Selangor State Executive Council (MMKN), during its meeting in July, approved the new WiFiSS alignment by focusing on the areas of housing, education, health, religion, community, transportation, agencies, and state government subsidiaries.

“Meanwhile, during the budget presentation, I sought to focus on all 371 villages (in the state), particularly traditional villages, bagan villages, and Chinese new villages.

“We will review all these places again. If there are none, we will then install WiFiSS, perhaps in public halls, houses of worship, suraus, or playgrounds, to be used by the surrounding communities,” he said.
