SHAH ALAM, Dec 6 — The Selangor State Legislative Assembly today passed the 2023 Selangor Budget with a total allocation of RM2.45 billion.
Speaker Ng Suee Lim said the budget involves management expenditure amounting to RM1.25 billion and development expenditure amounting to RM1.2 billion.
“The state budget was tabled by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on November 25.
“More than 20 state assemblymen debated on this motion and (the budget) we passed is for the good and the interest of the people of Selangor next year,” he said during a press conference after the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting, here today.
Ng also said that the state assembly had also passed the Selangor Water Management Board Enactment Bill (Amendment) 2022, the Administrative Members and State Assembly Members (Remuneration) Enactment Bill 2022 (Amendment) and the Royal Appropriations Enactment Bill (Amendment) 2022.
In addition, he said, the Selangor Human Capital Policy Proposal and six Statements of the Standing Rules Committee of the Selangor state assembly, which includes poverty eradication, installation of solar street lights and access to early childhood education were also approved.
Next year’s budget, themed “#KitaSelangor: Soaring Progress, Strengthening Unity, Fulfilling Hopes”, outlines five main thrusts which are:
- Strengthen economic growth
- Cultivating unity and a compassionate society
- Education and development of future generations
- Sustainable and prosperous life
- Efficient and responsible governance
