SHAH ALAM, Dec 31 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has called upon Selangor citizens to be thrifty and mindful, among others, in the coming new year.
In a special address with the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Their Royal Highnesses pray that 2023 will bring a more glorious and prosperous light on all the people
“His Royal Highness has called upon all segments of society to make it their New Year’s resolution to save carefully in managing their economy and daily lives, particularly with the worrying prospects of the global economy in 2023,” said the Selangor Royal Office in a Facebook post.
Sultan Sharafuddin also expressed the wish for all Malaysians to join hands and cooperate in rebuilding the nation as it recovers following the Covid-19 pandemic, and further boost it in terms of society, politics and economy.
“His Royal Highness urges everybody to put aside political differences and outside differences in the effort to resolve all problems and challenges that our beloved nation is currently facing.
“The Sultan does not want any more politicians fighting among themselves, putting their own self-interests at the fore until they ignore their responsibilities to the people. Less talk, more action,” it said.
In the coming New Year, Sultan Sharafuddin hopes the people will continue to prioritise peace and harmony, while avoiding sensitive issues that could be detrimental to racial relations.
“Their Royal Highnesses constantly pray the Malaysian people will always be under the protection of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.
“Together the Sultan and the Tengku Permaisuri wish all of Selangor and Malaysia in general a Happy New Year 2023,” said the post.
