Seventh edition of e-commerce awards sees over 400 participation

KLANG, Dec 10 — The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has recorded 440 participants for its Top E-Commerce Merchant (Top ECM) Awards this year, compared to the 160 merchants registered in 2021.

Its chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping said that the seventh edition of the awards had shortlisted 240 companies.

“Top ECM is a prestigious award that aims to recognise the local e-commerce traders that are successful, creative and innovative and for this year, 440 companies had shown interest as compared to 160 in the previous year.

“The participating merchants can take advantage of the increased recognition and have the opportunity to improve their brand branding in the industry in addition to grabbing a cumulative prize worth RM60,000 in cash,” he said when met at the fifth series of the Selangor Digital Entrepreneur Roadshow 2022, here today.

Yong added that the ceremony will be held next week.

The Top ECM 2022 award is organised by Sidec in collaboration with Affin Bank Berhad as the main sponsor, Subplace as the official e-commerce platform and Federal Express Services (FedEx) Malaysia as the official logistics partner.

The ceremony would feature three major awards namely Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards, Selangor E-Commerce Merchant Awards and Affin Bank Special Awards (Rising Star and AFFINGEM Women Trailblazer Awards).

Participants are assessed by a panel of judges from the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the Computer and Multimedia Industry Association of Malaysia (Pikom), Internet Alliance (IA) and the Malaysian Retail Chain Association (MRCA).
