KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 30 — The Terengganu state government will distribute the RM500,000 flood donations from Selangor to victims in the state.

Its Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said priorities will be given to severely-affected victims, as the state administration aims to help alleviate their burdens.

“We thank the Selangor government for its generosity. We will decide our priorities first, most probably it (the donations) will be utilised for flood victims,” he said.

Ahmad Samsuri was speaking at the handover of the mock cheque by his Selangor counterpart Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, earlier today.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post he said he has prayed for Amirudin’s visit to be rewarded by Allah SWT.

Ahmad Samsuri added that as of now, only 50 individuals are still housed in the Besut temporary relief centre (PPS), while flood victims in seven other districts have since returned to their home.

“Those in the PPS are there because their homes have been severely damaged. The Terengganu state government, in collaboration with the Islamic council, will assist in providing temporary shelter for them using government funds,” he said.

On Tuesday (December 27), Amirudin handed over a similar donation to Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob as a gesture of sympathy for the plight of the people in the state.
On December 20, Amirudin said the Selangor state government has donated RM1 million to Kelantan and Terengganu, as part of the effort in helping them to manage the floods in those states.
