Thousands attend appreciation feast for Gombak machinery, voters

GOMBAK, Dec 12 — Gombak residents came out in droves to attend the kenduri at the Greenwood Food Court, to mark Pakatan Harapan’s victory in the Federal constituency and its new MP Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari during the 15th general election (GE15) on November 19.

The event, which kicked off at 8pm, is also in thanks for Harapan’s election machinery and its staff who worked tirelessly to ensure Amirudin could win.

The Menteri Besar expressed his appreciation to all those who worked to help him, from March 2020 up until the last day of the GE15 campaign.

“I want to thank all the machinery, officers, and the people of Gombak, for their hard work in defending not only my dignity but that of PKR, Harapan, Gombak and Selangor as well.

“This victory brings with it responsibilities. I will review what I mentioned before and together we will help the unity government in Putrajaya,” he said during the event yesterday night.

Amirudin added his team will work to help maintain the mandate that has been obtained by Harapan and the unity government.

“We have to start working for the next week or two, as there are those seeking to seize the mandate we have obtained, in an effort to divide us,” he said.

In GE15 Amirudin, who is also PKR vice-president won with a majority of 12,729 votes, defeating Gombak’s three-term incumbent Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and four other candidates.

Azmin, formerly part of Harapan, switched sides to Perikatan Nasional in February 2020, which led to the collapse of the then-Harapan government in Putrajaya.
