120 artists to make Selangor Chinese New Year Open House a success

SHAH ALAM, Jan 25 — A total of 120 artists are set to make the Selangor Chinese New Year Open House at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam a success this Saturday.

Themed ‘Musim Bunga Kembali ke Khatulistiwa’ (Spring Returns to the Equator), the performers will showcase various cultural performances which includes the soprano singer Evelyn Toh and starts at 7pm.

The performance will be performed at the Shah Alam City Council Auditorium and only involves about 1,200 invited guests while a screen will be set up at the square to entertain public guests.

On January 16, state executive councillor for industry and trade Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the state is aiming for an attendance of 10,000 visitors.

The Selangor State Secretary’s Office also invites the public to attend the programme that will happen from 3.30pm to 10.30pm which offers a variety of interesting activities.

“Let’s all come to liven up the open house celebration in conjunction with Chinese New Year festivities.

“Various interesting activities are offered such as a bazaar, calligraphy competition, cultural performances and Chinese cultural art workshops,” he said.

The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj together with the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah is expected to grace the event.
