SUBANG JAYA, Jan 31 — The former mayor of the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Dato’ Johary Anuar has been appointed as Deputy Secretary of the State Government (Development), effective yesterday.

He expressed the hope that all plans to make Subang Jaya globally renowned will be implemented in the future.

“I hope all the efforts and plans to make MBSJ the most forward-thinking local authority in Malaysia and the city of Subang Jaya famous on the world map can be realised in the future.

“I believe the change of leadership will definitely have a more positive and constructive impact,” Johary said following MBSJ’s first Plenary Meeting for 2023, at the council’s headquarters earlier today.

He also expressed appreciation for the commitment of MBSJ employees, despite having only served as mayor for a year.

“Throughout my tenure of a year, it was difficult to get to know over 1,600 MBSJ employees. Yet I am grateful to everyone who aided in implementing various plans.

“I can only extend my apologies as many planned things could not be implemented in time, but I believe nothing is impossible with the commitment and cooperation of all parties, and perhaps they can be realised later on,” Johary said.

The 49-year-old was sworn in as Subang Jaya Mayor on February 3 last year, replacing Noraini Roslan who is currently serving as the Klang Municipal Council’s President.

Prior to becoming Subang Jaya Mayor, Johary served in a number of other capacities, beginning as the

Public Service Department’s (JPA) National Institute of Public Administration assistant director in 2000, as the Department of the Director-General of Lands and Mines’s land information section’s chief assistant director under the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry in 2007, and Lembaga Tabung Haji senior human resources manager in 2009.

Other positions include JPA chief assistant director in 2010, Selangor State Government Office deputy director in 2012, Petaling Jaya City Council secretary in 2015, and Petaling District and Land Office district officer in 2020.
