SHAH ALAM, Jan 13 — The high number of applications made by entrepreneurs from other states for business loans is a driving factor for Yayasan Hijrah Selangor to make offers to these individuals, said state executive councillor for entrepreneurial development Rodziah Ismail.
She said the initiative, introduced this year, prioritises traders whose premises borders Selangor, like Negeri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Perak.
“There have been many loan applications made by entrepreneurs from states as far away as Kedah and Kelantan. However, for the time being, we are only offering loans to those residing in bordering states.
“We are confident the unity government and certain ministries will be able to help all entrepreneurs in Malaysia, via the National Business Enterprise Fund Foundation and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia,” Rodziah said.
The councillor was visited by delegations from the World Industrial Association (WIA) and the International Strategic Institute, at the State Secretariat Building earlier today.
Earlier this month, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said Hijrah will offer loan assistance to entrepreneurs from other states whose business premises border Selangor.
First established in 2015, Hijrah has assisted approximately 55,834 entrepreneurs at a cost of RM710 million (as of November last year), which includes for business capital and company growth.
Meanwhile, WIA president Cyrus Tan said Hijrah’s schemes will be able to support the borrower’s business ecosystem since it comes with courses and training for the applicant.
“The scheme does not only provide financial loans but is complete with training for business operations. This is very helpful, especially for new traders,” he said.
