AMPANG JAYA, Jan 21 — Over 500 Pandan Indah state constituency residents received donations of raw chicken and rice for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations yesterday.

Its state assemblyman Izham Hashim said the donations, under the Pandan Prihatin programme, are organised every time in the period leading up to festive seasons.

“Pandan Prihatin is often organised every time before festive periods like Deepavali, Hari Raya, and this time the Chinese New Year.

“Each recipient receives a donation of two chickens, 5kg of rice, and mandarin oranges, for the Chinese residents of Pandan Indah,” he said.

Speaking at the programme, Izham said the initiative is part of the efforts to target members of the B40 community in Pandan Indah.

“The state constituency has various programmes, with this being one of them. We contact the Joint Management Bodies (JMB), Residents’ Associations, and council members, so we can select B40 recipients.

“With these contributions, we are confident in being able to reduce the residents’ burdens in preparing for their respective festivals. This will be continued from time to time,” he said.
