KPDN cripples diesel syndicate in Sungai Long

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 20 — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) crippled a diesel syndicate in a raid on unnumbered premises in Jalan Kuari Sungai Long, Hulu Langat yesterday, suspected of embezzling subsidised fuel.

KPDN enforcement director-general Azman Adam said the raiding party found 42,000 litres of diesel and confiscated a one-tonne lorry, a motorised pump, hoses, flow meters and other equipment used for the illegal activity.

He said they also detained a local man in his 30s along with three other foreigners caught in the act of transporting the fuel, with the seizure estimated at RM108,900.

“The premises owner also failed to show any valid documents regarding permission to deal with scheduled controlled goods (diesel) under the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” Azman said here today.

Investigations are underway to identify the individuals or companies involved in the distribution chain of subsidised fuel.

He said any company involved would also be investigated under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA 2001) (Act 613) for freezing or confiscation of assets and property.
