MB invites public to attend state-level CNY celebration tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has invited all to attend the state-level Chinese New Year celebration at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam tomorrow.

He said the event, scheduled to run from 3.30pm until 10.30, will feature various exciting activities, including cultural performances, arts bazaar and a feast.

“The Chinese New Year celebration in Selangor will be held on January 28 (Saturday), from 3.30pm until 10.30pm at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam. Come and attend the event, everyone is invited,” he tweeted today.

On January 16, state executive councilor for trade and industry Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the event is expected to draw some 8,000 to 10,000 visitors.

Themed “Musim Bunga Kembali ke Khatulistiwa” (Spring Returns to the Equator), Teng said the state government will also hand out 2,000 digital ‘ang pow’ (money packets) worth RM10,000 in total to the lucky visitors.

Aside from the money packets, he said visitors would also stand a chance to take part in a lucky draw of electrical items worth a total of RM3,000.

His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin are expected to attend the celebration.
