KAJANG, Jan 4 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has intensified its effort to create more awareness among small traders and restaurant operators on face-mask compliance.

Its president Najmuddin Jemain said the implementation notice had been issued since November last year.

“From the enforcement aspect, we have yet to issue any compounds. We have reminded them to adhere to the new directive,” he said when met after the swearing-in ceremony of MPKj councillors for the 2023 term.

On December 29, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the mandatory use of face masks for hawkers and restaurant operators in the state from January 1 is aimed to improve the level of hygiene in food handling.

He said this approach can also increase customer confidence in addition to avoiding the spread of Covid-19 and food poisoning issues.
