MPKj to continue improving service efficiency to realise city status this year

By Suhaila Shahrul Annuar

KAJANG, Jan 4 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) is committed to achieving city status this year, said its president Najmuddin Jemain.

He said so far they are still waiting for the state government’s decision on whether the local authority can achieve city status.

“We have not made physical changes (rebranding of assets). The state government has not yet decided whether MPKj can be upgraded to city status.

“But at the MPKj level we already have plans which include improving service efficiency in all aspects,” he said when met after the swearing-in ceremony of MPKj councillors for the 2023 term.

Previously, MPKj announced that it will implement the rebranding of its assets at the beginning of last year as an effort towards city status.

The assets include community halls, sports complexes, the Kajang Stadium, bus stops, public recreation parks, tourist spots, housing parks and food courts.
