SHAH ALAM, Jan 1 — The Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) will conduct periodic checks on traders and eatery operators to ensure the use of face masks when handling food.

Its president Dato’ Abd Hamid Hussain said the local council will issue a reminder should they fail to adhere to the rules.

“At first, we will remind them straight away if they are not wearing face masks. After that, strict actions will be taken if they continue to violate the rules,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

He added that the directive regarding the use of face masks among traders and eatery operators has been issued via social media platforms.

“A notice also has been circulated to ensure all traders in Sepang are well aware of the new rule,” he said.

On December 29, 2022, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that the use of face masks has been made compulsory for traders and eatery operators beginning January 1 to improve the cleanliness level in food handling.
