Rental incentives, deposits make it easier for people to own homes

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Jan 18 — The rental and house deposit incentives offered by the Selangor government has helped the citizens of the state to own their own homes at affordable prices.

Among the incentives offered are the Smart Rent Scheme, which allows residents to rent for two to five years before buying the residence, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seir Amirudin Shari.

He said residents who are interested in owning the unit will also receive a return of 30 per cent of the total rent paid.

“In addition, the Selangor House Fee Assistance Scheme also provides funding to help owners solve the challenge of paying house deposits, so that it can be used to cover the rental costs of the existing residence while waiting for the completion of construction and purchase of basic furniture,” he said on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the state government has approved the construction of 221,671 units of affordable housing to enable as many people as possible in the state to own their own homes.

“We are not only building quality affordable houses, but also providing instruments to own homes by facilitating the purchase,” he added.

Rumah Selangorku was developed more than a decade ago in various areas with the aim of helping the people of this state buy houses at a reasonable price.

Last week, Amirudin handed over keys and offer letters to buyers and tenants of Rumah Selangorku Kemuning Idaman in Klang.
