SHAH ALAM, Jan 21 — The rate of the Jom Shopping Perayaan vouchers has been increased to RM200 starting this year, to ensure Selangor residents will be able to enjoy the state’s progress together.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative is also in light of the economic burdens and increase in the price of goods which people are currently dealing with.

He added the same amount is given to eligible recipients prior to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Deepavali festival, something that is carried out consistently every year.

“This is indicative of our endeavour to ensure no one in Selangor will be left out or marginalised, thus guaranteeing how all of us can live in a state where everybody can enjoy its progress together,” Amirudin said in a Facebook video post yesterday.

The Jom Shopping Perayaan initiative is carried out in conjunction with three major festivals, to help ease the burden of less well-off families in preparing for the holidays.

On Monday (January 16), the Menteri Besar said the voucher rate has been increased to RM200 per family, with the qualifying monthly household income limit also increased from RM2,000 to RM3,000.

Similarly, Skim Mesra Usia Emas applicants are also qualified to apply for the vouchers, in light of the pressing costs of living at the moment.

Beliau menjelaskan penerima program Skim Mesra Usia Emas turut layak memohon baucar berkenaan memandangkan kos sara hidup yang agak menekan ketika ini.

The 2023 Selangor Budget has allocated RM16.48 million for the provision of the vouchers, which are expected to benefit some 82,400 recipients throughout Selangor.
