Selangor agrees to additional allocation of RM21.1 mln for Batang Kali slope repairs

SHAH ALAM, Jan 16 — The Selangor government has agreed to increase an allocation of RM21.1 million for the slope repair works in Batang Kali as recommended by the Works Department.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari the decision was made after the Selangor State Executive Council was presented with the findings of the report on the Batang Kali landslide disaster.

“Guidelines for business activities and camping sites would be developed together by the state government and local authorities to improve the safety of Selangor residents who engage in these activities,” Amirudin said in a statement today.

The landslide incident that took place at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Batang Kali, Hulu Selangor, on December 16, 2022, was nearly 300 meters (m) in distance and 70m high on the B66 Jalan Batang Kali-Genting Hulu Selangor route.

The death toll of the deadly landslide incident was 31, with the body of the last victim found on December 24, 2022.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said cliff strengthening works in Bukit Permai Phase 2, Ampang, are currently in progress while waiting for the full analysis report from the Hulu Langat District and Land Office to be completed.
