Selangor continues to protect women’s welfare

SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — Women’s welfare continues to be protected by the state government with five specific allocations and new programmes that have been provided under the 2023 Selangor Budget.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government has allocated some funds for the Akademi Kepimpinan Wanita (AKW) aside from several special quotas for business and entrepreneurs’ assistance.

He said the state government has also channelled some funds to private nursing centres as part of the efforts to acknowledge their contributions.

“Apart from that, some of the allocations go to the i-Suri scheme, under the Employee Provident Fund to encourage women in Selangor to start saving.

“We have also set aside over RM200,000 to overcome period poverty, especially among the lower-income group,” he said in a video posted on Facebook today.

In the video, Menteri Besar stressed five main aspects of the 2023 Selangor Budget, which was approved in November.

On November 25, the state government unveiled its 2023 budget totalling RM2.45 billion with 51 per cent of the budget or RM1.25 billion being set aside for operating expenditure, and the remaining 49 per cent, or RM1.2 billion, has been set for development expenditure.
