Stormy weather in six Selangor districts until 7pm — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to hit six Selangor districts until 7pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 4.00pm on Facebook, the agency said the districts affected are Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

“Other states that will be similarly affected are Kedah (Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin) 

“Meanwhile, in east Malaysia, the inclement weather is forecasted in Sarawak (Miri, Marudi and Limbang and Sabah (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan, Tawau, Kunak, Lahad Datu, Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Kota Marudu),” the agency said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
