Two Selangor districts to see inclement weather until 9pm — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Jan 9 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to hit two Selangor districts until 9pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 6pm on Facebook, the agency said the districts affected are Gombak and Hulu Langat.

“Other states to anticipate stormy weather are Kedah (Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang) and Terengganu (Dungun and Kemaman) 

“Inclement weather is also expected in Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan and Pekan), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin), Melaka (Jasin), Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), Sarawak (Bau, Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu,” the agency said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
