Campsite operators requested to participate in census, facilitate approval of temporary licences

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Feb 21 — All campsite operators in Selangor are requested to submit their respective operational information to the local authorities, said the state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han.

He requested for cooperation from businesses to be involved in the census process that has been carried out since last month to facilitate the process of temporary licence approvals.

“I call on all campsite operators to contact their respective local authorities and participate in this census to help the state government identify all campsites in the state in detail.

“After that, we will move forward to inform the process to obtain consideration for temporary licence approval depending on the suitability of the campsite,” he told SelangorKini.

Ng said so far, the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) and Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) have received several responses through the census.

“These two localities have many camping sites. Thanks to site operators who have submitted their operational information.

“However, there are still some local authorities who have not received any feedback from the campsite operators,” he said.

Previously, Ng said that from February 1, all campsite operators in Selangor are required to be registered with the local government to ensure the safety of visitors.

The decision was reached through a workshop on the preparation of campsite whitening guidelines with various agencies following the landslide tragedy at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite, Batang Kali, Hulu Selangor last December which claimed 31 lives.
