Flood victims in Pahang, Johor drop; remain the same in Terengganu, Kedah

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 — The number of flood victims in Pahang and Johor dropped this afternoon but remained the same in Terengganu and Kedah, bringing the latest number of victims to 2,369, compared to 2,866 this morning.

In Pahang, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) announced that the flood situation in Pekan has fully recovered after four temporary relief centres were closed and all 119 victims were allowed to return home.

The number of victims in Kuantan also went down compared to this morning from 2,678 placed in 16 relief centres to 2,188 victims from 666 families in 13 relief centres.

In Johor, JPBN said as of 4pm, 26 victims from nine families were still taking shelter at Balai Raya Kampung Seberang Batu Badak compared to 33 victims this morning.

All relief centres in Mersing were closed leaving only one district, Segamat, still affected by the floods.

In Kedah, the Kulim District Disaster Management Committee secretariat Captain (PA) Amirul Aliff Ahmad said as of 2 pm the number of flood victims placed at Sekolah Menengah Agama Madrasah Insaniah Jangkang, near Kulim remained at 18 victims from six families from Kampung Padang Limau.

In Terengganu, JPBN said the number of flood victims in the Kemaman district remained at 18 people from six families placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Lembah Jabor.
