Maqis seizes 18 tonnes of pet food from Singapore

JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 8 — The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) seized 18 tonnes of Fat Filled Milk Powder (Pet Food) from Singapore worth RM47,000 after finding its documents having inaccurate and misleading information.

Johor Maqis director Edie Putra Md Yusof said the product was found in a container that was stopped at the Maqis import cargo route, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, here at 1pm yesterday.

“Following checks, it was found that the importer had prepared a confusing document with the manufacturer’s information on the consignment label not being the same as the manufacturer’s information on the declared health certificate.

“The case is investigated in accordance with Section 13 of the Maqis Act 2011,” he said in a statement today.

Edie Putra said Maqis is always committed to carrying out enforcement at the country’s entrance to ensure that every agricultural product including plants, animals, carcasses, fish and imported microorganisms is free from pests, diseases and contaminants.
