SHAH ALAM, Feb 15 — Approximately 1,127 families in the Meru state constituency have applied for the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas) aid for this year.
Its special officer Norlena Nayan said all online applications will be screened before eligible families are selected to receive the RM300 monthly assistance.
“We will review the documents before visiting the homes of applicants, so as to ensure only those who are eligible will receive the assistance.
“However, the quota for recipients this year for Meru has yet to be determined, so we are still waiting before carrying out the selection process,” she said when contacted today.
Since its introduction in June last year, Norlena said up to 506 families in the state constituency have benefitted from the aid money.
“We sincerely hope the state government will increase the Bingkas allocation, so more eligible families will receive the assistance,” she said.
Bingkas, the successor to the Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor (KISS) and KISS IT (for single mothers) initiatives, falls under Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) at an allocation of RM108 million.
Under the initiative, each eligible family will receive RM300 in assistance on a monthly basis, or RM3,600 annually, with the payments distributed through the Wavpay e-wallet app for the convenience of recipients.
Alongside this, the state government is also offering 44 other initiatives via the ISP at the cost of RM600 million.
It features 11 new incentives, like the Selangor Saring free health screening programme, Iltizam Anak Penyayang, Saringan Barah (for cancer detection), and Selangor Mental Sihat.
