KLANG, Feb 5 — Port Klang state assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri has advised the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) to maintain its ongoing iteration of Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) affordable basic necessities sales programme until Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which falls in April.

Initially slated to wrap up next month, he said an extension would go a long way in alleviating the burden of residents in the state, particularly Muslims who will prepare for the upcoming festival.

“We are aware that Ramadan expenses and before Aidilfitri tend to be higher as many fishes have to be prepared. So I am requesting that PKPS continue JER until the Raya celebrations.

“For this state constituency, the service centre can provide volunteers to help PKPS launch the programme. We are ready to cooperate with them in ensuring residents can be aided,” said Azmizam.

He was speaking to SelangorKini after his visit to JER at Taman Putra Armada in Pulau Indah yesterday.

The state government is continuing JER 2.0 in a roadshow format, for a period of three months from January 16 to March as part of its effort to ease the burden of Selangor residents’ spending.

With a RM15 million allocation, the programme offers a variety of items including standard chicken (RM10 per piece), Grade B chicken eggs (RM10 per pack), fresh solid beef (RM10 per pack), 5kg cooking oil (RM25), 5kg rice (RM10) and fish (RM6 per pack).

Meanwhile, Azmizan also asked PKPS to be prepared in fulfilling the need for the chicken supply during the festive period.

“We would like to avoid the issue of insufficient chicken supply during Raya. So we ask PKPS to prepare and make estimations, starting from now,” he said.
