Port Klang shipping, logistics community donate over half mln to Turkiye, Syria quake victims

PORT KLANG, Feb 23 — Port Klang’s shipping and logistics community today donated RM510,000 for humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in Turkiye and Syria.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the aid collected through a solidarity initiative by Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), Port Klang Authority (LPK), and Infinity Logistics and Transport Sdn Bhd (Infinity) will be channelled to both countries through the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) ) soon.

The fundraising was done within five days, starting on February 17, by 47 shipping and logistics companies.

“The relief goods that will be distributed to the earthquake victims include medicines, tents, blankets and generators. It is expected to take about 28 days to deliver the aid to both countries through Northport,” he said.

Loke was speaking to reporters after the Port Klang Shipping and Logistics Community Humanitarian Aid Initiative donation ceremony for Turkiye and Syria held at the Northport today.

Earlier, the minister handed over the donation to MRA president Dr Mohd Daud Sulaiman, witnessed by Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia Emir Salim Yuksel.
