SHAH ALAM, Feb 15 — The Selangor government will continue the implementation of the Selangor Saring free health screening programme this year with registrations open on the SELangkah app today.

In a statement, state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the health programme targets to benefit 31,000 people in all 56 constituencies through an allocation of RM2.6 million.

“All residents of Selangor who have risk factors such as family history, overweight, unhealthy lifestyle, as well as those who have not yet been identified by a doctor as having a declared disease are encouraged to register for the Selangor Saring programme,” she said.

Dr Siti Mariah said the programme has also expanded its scope of services to include three more categories, namely ear screening, dental examination and physiotherapy services in addition to other basic screening.

Registrations are open from today at 2pm and it can be made through the SELangkah app.

Each applicant must complete an initial screening form during the registration process to help identify the applicant’s background and risk factors.

All eligible individuals will receive a voucher to undergo a free health screening at a designated location and date.

The Selangor Saring programme was introduced last year and aims to implement disease prevention through screening and early detection.

The programme has received more than 20,000 registrations and successfully identified 49 per cent of cases that require follow-up, consultation and further treatment.

More information can be found at selangorsaring.selangkah.my and any issues related to registration can be directed to the Selcare hotline at 1-800-22-6600.

The following are the 5 screening categories covered under the 2023 Selangor Saring programme:

  1. Non-communicable diseases: heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease
  2. Cancer diseases: colorectal, prostate, cervical and breast cancer
  3. Eye-related diseases: myopia, glaucoma and retina
  4. Additional screening: dental and ear examination
