Sg Buloh jetty at Jeram made clean again after Team Selangor collects waste

SHAH ALAM, Feb 22 — The surrounding area of the Sungai Buloh Jetty in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, has been given a fresh look after Team Selangor volunteers collected nearly 400kg of rubbish on Saturday (February 18).

Its chief secretariat Syahaizel Keman said 50 volunteers took part in the River Clean Up initiative, which was jointly organised with the Bukit Melawati state constituency’s community service center and the Kampung Bagan Sasaran Sungai Buloh Community Management Council.

“We traced plenty of rubbish like plastic, aluminium cans, paper and glass bottles in the areas around the jetty and the river. Due to this, we took the initiative to carry out clean-ups.

“The jetty required clearance since fishermen frequently gather there to earn their living, as well as being a location for organising local community programmes,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Asides from the collective work to clean the jetty area, Team Selangor also organised a brownie-making workshop and health screenings at an open hall near the jetty.

Registration and assistance counters for Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE), Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas), Yayasan Hijrah Selangor (Hijrah), Iltizam Selangor Penyayang, and Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) were also opened.

Syahaizel added that Team Selangor intends to carry out similar activities in other locations later on in the near future.

“We are currently discussing and identifying other locations that require our attention and any cleaning efforts,” he said.
