KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 9 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has called on the people to get the first and second booster doses for optimal protection against Covid-19 infection.

His Royal Highness advised the matter following the movement of people which is expanding in the current endemic phase.

“Physical health, mental health and social well-being are among the things affected by this dangerous epidemic.”

“I would like to advise the people not to be complacent in taking care of the physical health of themselves, their family members, the community and the people,” he said during the inauguration of Tanjong Karang Hospital, here today.

Sultan Sharafuddin said that although the country managed to control the spread, the outbreak that broke out at the end of 2019 had an impact on the health and well-being of the people.

“This epidemic not only affects the economy, but the impact is also seen in the health and well-being of the people as a whole,” he said.

Since January 7, the state government has continued providing free Covid-19 injections and booster doses through the Selangor Vaccine (Selvax) programme.

The programme has the cooperation of 15 Selcare Clinics and The KL Clinic in the state.

Meanwhile, Sultan Sharafuddin has called for all parties to play a role in helping individuals with mental health problems to recover.

His Royal Highness said that those with extreme depression or anxiety should not be left behind and encouraged to undergo appropriate treatment.

“I call on all people not to isolate or stigmatise those who suffer from mental health problems such as depression and extreme anxiety.

“Just like individuals suffering from physical illness, mental patients also need to be helped by providing appropriate treatment,” he said.

Sultan Sharafuddin also called on individuals suffering from the problem to consult medical experts for treatments.

His Royal Highness also asked the people to pay attention to the health care of the elderly and those with special needs.

“Together, the people should take responsibility and duty to help those in need at the same time making us all able to live more harmoniously and prosperously.

“The people must always be aware of the surrounding and seek emergency help in case any calamity befalls on anyone,” he said.
