SHAH ALAM, Feb 20 — The development of the Taman Eko Tenaga Hijau Selangor project on 245 acres of land in Rawang should be completed by the end of 2025.

KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said it is now resolving the land acquisition issue, before the landfill waste reduction project commences.

The land use in the area was agreed upon at the end of last year, with Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) serving as the stakeholder.

“If the proposal paper (for the land acquisition) is speedily presented to the Selangor State Executive Council, it will expedite the process,” he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Ramli said KDEBWM is also in the process of appointing a consultant to carry out an environmental impact assessment (EIA), alongside a land investigation study.

“We are also designing a project involving four phases, including waste-to-energy (WTE) for 2,400 tonnes of waste daily, a waste plant schedule, WTE of 1,000 metric tonnes, and solar panels.

“As well as this, we are also applying for a tariff fee from the Federal government, via the Housing and Local Government Ministry,” he said.

During the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget on November 25 last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced a RM4.5 billion fund for infrastructure investment and development, through KDEBWM.

He said the Taman Eko Tenaga Hijau Selangor project is expected to accelerate the use of modern technology in dealing with waste disposal issues, as existing sites are unable to accommodate future generated waste.
