Water restoration in affected areas now at 95 pct — Air Selangor

By Jerry Choong

SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 — The water supply in 1,037 affected areas in five districts and the areas around Shah Alam now stands at 95 per cent.

In a statement, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd said the water supply is expected to be fully restored by 6am tomorrow.

“The duration of the water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on several factors.

“This includes the water pressure at the distribution system, earth surface factors, and the distance of pipelines and the distance of consumers’ premises,” it said.

Air Selangor added that it hopes consumers who have received the water supply will use water prudently, to ensure the supply recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly as scheduled.

Consumers can refer to all official communication channels including the Air Selangor app, FacebookInstagram, and Twitter, or call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300. They can also view the list of affected areas at https://hentitugas.airselangor.com/ and the Air Selangor app.

On Saturday (February 11) at 9.45pm, a diesel-like odour was detected at the intake of all four WTPs, necessitating a temporary shutdown. By 1.30am on Sunday, raw water began to be pumped into the Rantau Panjang WTP and into the SSP1, SSP2, and SSP3 WTPs by 2.15am, after a threshold odour number of zero was recorded three times in a row.

Following this, the water supply began to be distributed in stages at 6.30am. Water tankers have been mobilised to provide assistance during this period of unscheduled water disruption.
