Water supply restoration nearing 90 pct — Air Selangor

By Jerry Choong

SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 — The water supply in 1,037 affected areas in five districts and the areas around Shah Alam is now 89 per cent, as of 6am, said Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, it said as of 7am Hulu Selangor, Gombak, and Petaling has been fully restored, followed by Kuala Selangor at 99 per cent, and Klang and Shah Alam at 83 per cent. Kuala Langat has yet to be restored.

“The duration of the water supply recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location and distance of consumers’ premises.

“We also hope consumers who have received the water supply will use water prudently, to ensure the supply recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly as scheduled,” Air Selangor said.

Consumers can refer to all official communication channels including the Air Selangor app, FacebookInstagram, and Twitter, or call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300. They can also view the list of affected areas at https://hentitugas.airselangor.com/ and the Air Selangor app.

On Saturday (February 11) at 9.45pm, a diesel-like odour was detected at the intake of all four WTPs, necessitating a temporary shutdown. By 1.30am on Sunday, raw water began to be pumped into the Rantau Panjang WTP and into the SSP1, SSP2, and SSP3 WTPs by 2.15am, after a threshold odour number of zero was recorded three times in a row.

Following this, the water supply began to be distributed in stages at 6.30am. Water tankers have been mobilised to provide assistance during this period of unscheduled water disruption.
