120,000 application for Rumah SelangorKu, more than double state target

SEPANG, March 11 — The Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) records almost 120,000 applicants on the waiting list to own Rumah SelangorKu.

State executive councillor for housing and urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail said the number was more than double the state government’s target which plans to build 60,000 affordable housing units by 2025.

“We aim if possible, by 2025, we can provide half to those who really deserve this, that will be enough.

“Among the 120,000 individuals who are waiting for this, some of them are able to buy a house at an affordable price. So, we will look into the application for Rumah Selangorku,” she said during the Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang roadshow at Sepang today.

Rodziah said the Rumah Idaman and Harapan categories are the top choices for most buyers as the price is affordable and comes complete with various facilities.

“This type of housing is complete with partial furniture, including air conditioning, kitchen cabinets, televisions and refrigerators.

“In these two years, we expect 42,000 Rumah Idaman to be completed. So, I urge developers to make sure no projects are abandoned or unfinished,” she said.

In February, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that 65,000 units of Rumah SelangorKu in the Idaman and Harapan categories had been approved since 2018.

Out of that number, 24,000 units are in the planning permission process, 6,500 are still being built, while 2,400 are completed in Kajang and Bangi.
