Agong visits UAE president

KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi yesterday (February 28).

According to the Istana Negara Facebook post today, His Majesty was accompanied by the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Also present were the UAE ruler’s representative in Dhafra Province, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan; the Malaysian Chief of Defence Force, General Tan Sri Affendi Buang; Army deputy chief, General Datuk Seri Mohammad Ab Rahman and Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE, Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.

“During the meeting at 5.30pm local time (9.30pm Malaysian time), the two leaders touched on measures and efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations in various aspects.

“Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed his appreciation to the UAE government for its willingness to accept a donation of 42 tonnes of humanitarian aid from the Malaysian government to be channelled through the UAE Red Crescent Society to the victims of the recent earthquake in Syria,” said Istana Negara.

During the meeting, His Majesty also extended an invitation to Sheikh Mohammed to visit Malaysia.

The meeting was then followed by a banquet at Qasr Al Shatie in Abu Dhabi.

His Majesty is currently in the UAE for a special visit for seven days which concludes today.

Also accompanying Al-Sultan Abdullah on the visit is the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
