Auto-coverage for school students under Insan — MB

SHAH ALAM, March 22 — School-going children in the state will be automatically registered under Skim Insurans Am Selangor (Insan) general insurance scheme for self-coverage, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the state government will bear the premium, which encompasses students in Year One to Form Six, in both government and private schools.

“This initiative is the only one of its kind in Malaysia, where one’s children who are going to school are covered by an insurance scheme (fully) borne by the state government,” Amirudin said on Twitter today.

He added applications can still be made via the Wavpay app, which is downloadable from the AppStore, Google Play, or Huawei App Gallery.

Insan is a collective personal accident insurance policy for residents aged between 30 days and 80 years, in which the state government wholly covers the premium costs.

The scheme, with a cover value of RM60 billion, provides up to RM10,000 in insurance coverage for cases of permanent disability and deaths caused by accidents.
