‘Buy Local’ Ramadan-Raya campaign aims for RM2.5 mln sales

KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry is targeting RM2.5 million in sales through the Let’s Buy Local Ramadan and Raya Campaign on the My Mall platform, which starts today until next April 22.

Its minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said 1,000 local entrepreneurs are expected to participate in the campaign to fuel the involvement of micro, small-and-medium enterprises on an online platform in the sale of goods produced by Malaysian entrepreneurs.

According to Ewon, 803 products including food, drinks, services and others will be offered by entrepreneurs through the campaign.

“The ministry is committed to ensuring a 20 per cent increase in local entrepreneurs using MyMall,” he said at a press conference after launching the Mari Beli Lokal Ramadan dan Raya campaign, earlier today.

Ewon also suggested that local entrepreneurs take advantage to get involved in the campaign because it is not just an e-commerce platform, but rather the development of an integrated entrepreneurial ecosystem that also offers training, financing and marketing services for free.

The My Mall e-commerce platform, which was developed in October last year, now has about 7,000 entrepreneurs with 900 products.

“This MyMall platform does not charge entrepreneurs and they do not need to increase the price of goods to cover the cost of business operations,” he said.
