Exco advocates entrepreneurs to dip toes in franchising, in learning how to market products

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 — Entrepreneurs in the state have been encouraged to explore the field of franchising, so as to develop their business modules to higher levels.

State executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail said the sector has much potential for entrepreneurs to advance and develop their respective business brands.

“For this year, we are attempting to look at entrepreneurs focusing on exploring other business modules, instead of being limited to existing modules like the agent concept, among others.

“Entrepreneurs, particularly those from the Bumiputera category, should not be afraid but instead endeavour to foray into franchising. To this, we will have a joint venture with the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) and the Domestic Trade and Living Costs Ministry (KPDN),” she said.

Rodziah was speaking to Selangorkini during her visit to exhibition booths at the Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) 2023, held at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center earlier today.

She added that entrepreneurs should also have goals to succeed on the international level, instead of limiting themselves to just the local stage.

“For entrepreneurs, we want them to succeed globally, not just locally. Hence why we strongly encourage them to explore other business modules,” Rodziah said.

This year’s Selhac, themed Selangor, Gerbang Halal Antarabangsa, began on Friday (March 10) and ends today, having featured 200 exhibitors.
