Kindergarten fees subsidy to lighten monthly burden of low-income groups

By Suhaila Shahrul Annuar

SEPANG, March 12 — The fee subsidies for kindergartens are provided by the state government as part of its effort to reduce the burden on parents from the B40 category in paying the monthly fees.

Taska Cahaya Permata Dengkil owner S. Gunasegeran said the RM100 subsidy, under the Bantuan Asuhan Anakku Pintar (Asuh Pintar) scheme, is of vital importance to parents.

“Our kindergarten makes this application annually, so as to help reduce the burden on B40 parents in paying the fees.

“For this year, eight children in our kindergarten have received RM800 in aid,” he said during the Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang (JKSP) roadshow programme for Sepang, at Pusat Penjaja Taman Putra Perdana yesterday.

Meanwhile, Skim Mesra Insan Istimewa (SMIS) recipient Abd Roni Awang said the RM150 shopping voucher he received will be used to purchase kitchenware this month.

“I have received help several times before. I am thankful the amount provided has been increased from RM100 to RM150, as it helps cover household expenses for this month,” he said.

For pensioner A. Jaganadarau, 59, the SMIS value increase is indicative of the state government’s concern for the people’s needs, which increases year by year.

The handover ceremony for the aid was officiated by the state executive councillor for entrepreneurial development Rodziah Ismail.

Earlier on, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari stated that Selangor will streamline welfare for the disabled by registering them under SMIS.

Previously, disabled persons were categorised under Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE), which has since been restructured alongside the RM150 increase.
