KLANG, March 30 — Klang has been recognised as one of the 10 happiest cities in Malaysia for 2022, during the World Happiness Day local authority-level celebrations on March 20.
Klang Municipal Council (MPK) President Noraini Roslan said the Happiest City Award was given out based on its achievements in measuring the happiness index.
The evaluation of the index was conducted via the Malaysia Urban Rural National Indicators Network for Sustainable Development (MURNInets) last year.
“The happiness index is a general measurement of the level of well-being and happiness among Klang residents.
“A questionnaire involving 42,000 respondents from 117 local authorities nationwide was carried out for that purpose,” she said during the MPK full meeting earlier today.
Noraini said the questionnaire takes into account the aspects of life, health, family and neighbour relationships, financial management, community activities, and safety.
It also looked at the provision of community facilities, local authority services, representative services, and environmental quality.
“This questionnaire was conducted online through the MURNInets Gateway, which was answered directly by respondents into the system, with the cooperation of MPK councillors who publicised it to the wider community,” she said.
Alongside Klang, other cities which also received the Happiest City Award include Petaling Jaya, Manjung in Perak, Kluang in Johor, Musang Cave and Kuala Krai in Kelantan, Kuala Pilah in Negeri Sembilan, Kuantan and Rompin in Pahang, and Alor Gajah in Melaka.
