PUTRAJAYA, March 20 — The First Selangor Plan (RS-1) is a regional development strategy that would also stimulate the state’s economy, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Menteri Besar said that the regional development projects include the Integrated Development Region In South Selangor (Idriss), Sabak Bernam Area Development (Sabda) and the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG).
“In redeveloping townships, through the 2019 Budget, I proposed an economic cluster to find unique spots in a locality, from the city to the village, so that it could be redeveloped in its current state.
“We don’t have a large area to develop like Putrajaya, but Alhamdulillah (Thank God), in the last 40 to 50 years, Selangor was among the earliest areas to grow due to its strategic location.
“Based on the economic cluster, regional development has been thought through with the RS-1, such as Sabda, SMG, the redevelopment of the (Shah Alam) stadium complex and Idriss,” he said when delivering his speech at the Perdana Putrajaya Dialogue 2023 at Zenith Hotel, here today.
With the theme Developing a Madani Nation, the event was organised by the Malaysian Town Planning Officers Association (Persada) and the Department of Town and Country Planning (PLANMalaysia).
In his new year’s speech to state civil servants earlier this year, Amirudin said that the RS-1 is the outcome of the state’s long-term plan for development.
The five-year RS-1 plan was unveiled in July last year, involving a total value of RM212.44 billion, taking into account the implementation aspects of comprehensive policies, projects and initiatives between the state and federal governments.
The plan focused on four areas — economic growth, empowerment of the people, sustainable development, as well as good and transparent governance — that would be developed through 262 projects and initiatives.
