MBPJ continues Petaling Jaya community grant, offering up to RM50,000

PETALING JAYA, March 17 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is offering the Petaling Jaya Sustainable Community Grant (PJ Seed) 5.0 this year with a minimum funding of RM5,000 up to RM50,000.

Its Mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said the initiative aims to plan and implement projects to improve performance in 10 key fields through community participation, partnerships and inclusiveness towards a Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Petaling Jaya 2030.

“The grant, which was held for the first time in 2019, has so far approved 113 projects with an allocation of RM1.9 million given to selected organisations.

“This is the fifth year we have maintained the implementation of the project according to the 10 designated fields and only those who are eligible will receive the grant assistance,” he said after launching the grant at the MBPJ headquarters, here today.

The fields listed are Low Carbon City, Circular Economy, Safe and Resilient City, Inclusive City and Child Friendly City.

It also includes Learning City, Fresh Economy City, Society 5.0 City as well as Smart City and Digital Governance City.

Grant applications are open to resident associations, neighbourhood groups, village community management councils, joint management bodies, joint corporations, parent and teacher associations, public and private higher education institutions, places of worship and registered non-governmental bodies/organisations.

Mohamad Azhan added that a total of RM700,000 has been allocated for this year, therefore, he invites all interested parties to submit applications.

Application forms can be downloaded starting March 17 at www.mbpj.gov.my or be obtained at the counter of MBPJ Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning Department, 20th Floor, Menara MBPJ. The application deadline is June 30.
