SHAH ALAM, March 16 — Up to 602 entrepreneurs stand a chance at winning RM46,000 in cumulative prizes at the Top E-Commerce Merchant (Top ECM) Awards 2023, organised by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec)
Its chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping said the eighth edition of the awards, which runs from March to May, is aimed at recognising successful, creative and innovative e-commerce brands and traders.
“We received 602 applications to participate in Top ECM from February 1 to February 28, a 36.8 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
“Participants will be evaluated based on the online sales contest, which covers 50 per cent of the score, while the live broadcast contest and the business potential contest respectively cover 25 per cent of the score each.
“The results will be announced in early June,” he said at the press conference announcing the Smart Raya Selangor 2023 initiative, which was also attended by state executive councillor for industry and trade Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.
Yong added that Top ECM features three categories, including the Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards, the Selangor Onboarding Programme Awards, and the Affin Bank Special Awards (Rising Star and Affingem Women Trailblazer Awards).
“The Rising Star Award is a special category with three winners selected based on their company’s business potential, must be operating for less than three years, as well as being shortlisted as one of the best 40 in the main category.
“Affingem Women Trailblazer Awards, which is a new subcategory introduced last year, is a special recognition for successful female entrepreneurs in their respective industries,” he said.
Affin Bank is the Top ECM Awards 2023’s main sponsor, alongside the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation.
Other participating sponsors include SME Corp, the Small-and-Medium Enterprises Association (Samenta), the National Technology Association of Malaysia (Pikom), the Internet Alliance, and the Malaysian Retail Chain Association (MRCA).
