By Azian Aziz

SELAYANG, March 31 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) has issued repossession warrants together with a RM100 charge to property owners who have failed to clear their assessment tax arrears, beginning tomorrow.

Its Deputy President Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi said the warrants will enable the properties of the individuals to be confiscated within seven days of the date when the repossession warrants were issued.

“Prior to this, MPS issued a Form E notice with a RM20 additional charge to property owners who failed to pay the assessment tax arrears, in accordance with the stipulated period, which was on February 28.

“Form E notice recipients were given a period of one month, or until March 31, to ensure the arrears are cleared. In the event of failure to make repayments, repossession warrants will be imposed from April 1 onwards,” he said during the third monthly council meeting, earlier today.

On September 28 last year, MPS President Datuk Mohd Yazid Sairi said the council seized the property of 2,651 owners who failed to clear their assessment tax arrears within seven days of the date when the repossession warrants were issued.

He said owners who have been issued with these warrants must make full payment, in order for it to be cancelled.

According to him, owners who have arrears must make full payment if they want the arrest warrant to be cancelled.
